At a concert in his hometown of Memphis on Friday night (Jan. 19), Justin Timberlake live-debuted the new song “Selfish” — his first new solo material since his fifth studio album, 2018’s Man of the Woods.

“So if I get jealous, I can’t help it/ I want every bit of you, I guess I’m selfish,” JT sings on the silky-smooth R&B track (listen to a snippet in the TikTok video below). “It’s bad for my mental, but I can’t fight it.”

And that’s not all: Also on Friday night, Timberlake unveiled a trailer for his sixth album along with the project’s official title: Everything I Thought It Was. This comes after the pop star’s Instagram teaser on Wednesday was captioned “EITIW,” leading fans on an Easter egg hunt to decode the acronym.

The album trailer has a sort of Wes Anderson, Asteroid City vibe about it, with a model car driving toward a desert gas station. It also has an A-list narrator in Benicio Del Toro.

“What do we have here?” Del Toro says as the video opens. “Ooh, that’s a nice car! Wait, it’s a model. Did that say JT? OK, that sunset is definitely not real. Oh, there’s Justin! Why won’t he turn around? What the f— is he staring at?”

The trailer — which you can watch below — ends with yellow words against a black screen that read: “Justin Timberlake Presents: Everything I Thought It Was.”

A series of clues had hinted at new Timberlake solo music, starting with the star wiping his Instagram clean in early January. In addition to the mid-week Instagram teaser, Timberlake was also announced as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday next week and the musical guest on Saturday Night Live (alongside host Dakota Johnson) on Jan. 27. While we don’t have an official release date for “Selfish” yet, you can pre-save the song on Spotify now.

In September, Timberlake reunited with *NSYNC to release “Better Place” for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack, marking the group’s first musical release since 2002 (when the Neptunes remix of “Girlfriend,” featuring Nelly, arrived). That same month, Timberlake reunited with longtime collaborators Timbaland and Nelly Furtado on the song “Keep Going Up!”

‘The View’ Hosts Say Madonna Is ‘Disrespectful’ for Starting Concert 2 Hours Late https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/the-view-hosts-madonna-disrespectful-starting-concert-late-1235585427/ Fri, 19 Jan 2024 20:03:56 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235585427

The hosts of The View slammed Madonna on Friday (Jan. 19) after the icon was sued by two New York City men for starting her Celebration tour stops two hours late.

“I personally wouldn’t wait two hours to get a hot oil massage from George Clooney, much less a concert by anybody,” host Joy Behar said during The View‘s Hot Topics segment. However, Sunny Hostin wasn’t “bothered” by the situation. “I don’t think she should be sued,” she said. “This is baked into Madonna. She’s an icon. She’s always late. When you go to a Madonna concert, you know you have to eat before, you have to get lit before, and you’re going to wait about two hours and listen to a DJ.”

However, the group noted that most acts including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez and more, all start their shows on time.

“Insert any person’s name who are two hours late. It’s disrespectful,” Sara Haines added. “You’re literally flipping off your fans who paid to come and watch you. You can be a diva. You should not act like a diva. To me, Madonna is not there.”

Haines continued, “Beyoncé? Always on time. Taylor Swift, Pink, that’s called respectful. It’s how you’re raised. You respect someone’s time the way you expect them to respect yours. You showed up here. They paid hundreds of dollars.”

Madonna is currently facing a federal class action lawsuit after allegedly starting her three New York City concerts later than scheduled, a delay that her accusers — show attendees Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden — say caused harm to themselves and other ticket buyers who “had to get up early to go to work” the next day.

In a complaint filed Wednesday (Jan. 17) in Brooklyn federal court, Fellows and Hadden claim Madge breached her contract with concertgoers and violated New York state laws by starting the shows in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center past 10:30 p.m. instead of the scheduled 8:30 p.m. The two men say attendees were “left stranded in the middle of the night,” as the show ended past 1 a.m., and some were “confronted with limited public transportation” options. They also point out that the concert took place “on a weeknight,” meaning they “had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day.”

Friday Music Guide: Green Day, Nicki Minaj & Future, Bleachers & More https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/best-new-music-green-day-nicki-minaj-future-bleachers-1235585021/ Fri, 19 Jan 2024 14:14:38 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235585021

Billboard’s Friday Music Guide serves as a handy guide to this Friday’s most essential releases — the key music that everyone will be talking about today, and that will be dominating playlists this weekend and beyond.

This week, Green Day returns to save something (rock and roll perhaps?), Nicki Minaj and Future reach for the remote together and Jack Antonoff scores an alt-rock ballet for his new bride. Check out all of this week’s picks below:

Green Day, Saviors

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers’ first album since 2020’s Father of All Motherf–kers sees the trio reuniting with Rob Cavallo — producer behind most of the group’s classic albums, from 1994’s Dookie to 2004’s American Idiot — for the first time since 2012’s ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! trilogy. Cavallo helps Green Day discover some of their size and scope after a few more back-to-basics albums, giving Saviors a feel reminiscent of their mid-’00s blockbusters. Whether the singles will ultimately measure up to skyscraping rock radio smashes like “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “21 Guns” remains to be seen, but lead single (and album opener) “The American Dream Is Killing Me” is certainly off to a good start, having spent seven weeks atop Billboard‘s Rock & Alternative Airplay chart.

Nicki Minaj feat. Future, “Press Play”

The latest edition of Nicki Minaj‘s Billboard 200-topping 2023 album Pink Friday 2 is titled the “Pluto Edition” — so you could probably guess who is featured on the edition’s lone new bonus track. “Press Play” indeed features Future, who already appeared on original album highlight “Nicki Hendrix,” and leads off here with the song’s quickly undeniable hook: “Press play, lil’ booty b–ch/ Press play, big booty b–ch.” He and Minaj then trade too-cold bars over an ATL Jacob beat of racing piano and wobbly bass, with the latter even giving yours truly a namecheck: “Top of every list including your man bucket/ Been on the chart so long, I told Billboard to dust it.”

Bleachers, “Tiny Moves”

After another year of big moves as a writer/producer — including work on Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. album and its signature single “A&W,” which earned him nominations for both album and song of the year at the upcoming Grammys — Jack Antonoff is back in his main gig in 2024 as frontman for alt-rock hitmakers Bleachers. “Tiny Moves” is a typically rousing rave-up from the New Jersey outfit, but with strings driving the action more than the group’s typical combination of guitars and synths, giving extra drama and tension to lyrics like “The tiniest moves you make/ The whole d–n world shakes.” Margaret Qualley, Emmy-nominated actress and Antonoff’s wife, choreographed, directed and dances solo (with Antonoff watching nearby from the hood of his car) in the song’s music video.

Mumford & Sons & Pharrell Williams, “Good People”

Legendary hip-hop, R&B and pop producer (and occasional solo star) Pharrell Williams as one of the Sons in alt-folk arena-dwellers Mumford & Sons? Doesn’t sound like the most obvious fit, but Pharrell’s never been afraid to branch out into new genre territory — he did an entire mini-album with country group Little Big Town in the mid-10s — and so he meets the retro stompers here on their own ground, adding his piercing “welcome to the revelation” backing vocals to the rise-up lyrics and giving the group’s clomping beat a little extra thump. Won’t be as big as “I Will Wait” or “Happy,” most likely, but an interesting new chapter in both artists’ storied careers.

Norah Jones, “Running”

Two decades after Norah Jones became one of the few artists in musical history to sell a million copies in a week with her 2004 album Feels Like Home — follow-up, of course, to her diamond-certified breakthrough set Come Away With Me — she’s back with the new single “Running.” The first taste from upcoming ninth album Visions, due in March, the song features Jones lamenting her perpetual state of commitment panic over sympathetic production from Leon Michels, accurately summarized by Jones in a press release as “kind of garage-y, but also kind of soulful.” She may not do the blockbuster numbers she did in the early ’00s, but Jones’ music just keeps getting better.

Kygo & Ava Max, “Whatever”

Extensively teased by both artists in the weeks leading up to its release, tropical house producer Kygo and pop hitmaker Ava Max are the latest duo to try to replicate David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good” formula of building an undeniable club smash around a massive, can’t-miss turn-of-the-century interpolation. In this case, the throwback smash being lifted is Shakira’s English-language breakout single “Whenever, Wherever,” which indeed does give a rush to the song’s breakup-themed chorus. Wouldn’t be shocking if it heated up the top 40 airwaves this winter, though you may end up just wanting to listen to the classic original instead. (Guetta is also back with an interpolation single of his own this week, spinning off Cathy Dennis’ 1991 chartbuster “Touch Me (All Night Long)” for his Kungs and Izzy Bizu collab “All Night Long.”)

It’s All Happening! Justin Timberlake Posts Snippet of Rehearsal Footage on Eve of Free Memphis Club Show https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/justin-timberlake-snippet-rehearsal-footage-free-memphis-club-show-1235585026/ Fri, 19 Jan 2024 13:36:40 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235585026

With just hours to go before Justin Timberlake takes the stage at the Orpheum Theater in his hometown of Memphis tonight (Jan. 19), the singer posted a five-second sneak peek of what is expected to be the preview of his return to music. “SEE YOU TOMORROW” Timberlake wrote on X on Thursday night in advance of the free underplay show he announced last week.

Related

Even better, the post came with a brief video of Timberlake walking onto the theater’s stage, which was bathed in orange light illuminating a full band playing a slinky R&B groove as the “Mirrors” singer crooned what sounded like “it’s all that I saw.” It was unclear at press time if the groove was from a new song, but Justin’s increased activity lately has ramped up speculation that the JT6 era is imminent.

In addition to the show, Timberlake will be back in the friendly confines of The Tonight Show next Thursday (Jan. 25), where he is booked to appear as a guest alongside Molly Ringwald and musical guest Flo Milli. Timberlake and host Jimmy Fallon are old friends, so fans have been hoping that the singer will use the opportunity to announce his as-yet-untitled new album; at press time Timberlake had not officially confirmed speculation that he’s prepping the follow-up to 2018’s Man of the Woods.

There have been a number of clues that something is up, including Timberlake wiping his social media feeds over the past week before posting a series of pictures that appear to be from a music video shoot, captioned “EITIW.” The latter spurred suggestions that his new single will be called “Everything I Thought I Was,” with eagle-fingered Redditors tracking down a trademark application filed by a mystery LLC early last year for that phrase, as well as for “Everything I Thought I Was… A Sonic Film.”

At press time a spokesperson for Timberlake had not returned a request for comment on his upcoming plans.

In September, Timberlake reunited with his old bandmates in *NSYNC to release “Better Place” from the Trolls Band Together soundtrack, marking the group’s first musical release since 2002’s Neptunes remix of “Girlfriend” featuring Nelly.

Norah Jones Announces ‘Visions’ Album, Spring 2024 U.S. Tour https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/norah-jones-visions-album-spring-2024-tour-dates-1235584260/ Thu, 18 Jan 2024 17:24:51 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235584260

Norah Jones revealed the title of her upcoming ninth studio album, Visions, on Thursday (Jan. 18), as well as the 12-song collection’s bubbling first single, “Running.” The Blue Note album from the 9-time Grammy winner is due out on March 8 and was recorded with producer/multi-instrumentalist Leon Michels (El Michels Affair, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings), who also co-wrote the single, on which he plays drums and baritone sax.

“From the first time I felt the click in my heart/ I keep running, oh I keep running away/ Try to sleep but the aching tears me apart/ I keep running, oh I keep running away,” Jones sings breathily on the slow-rolling, meditative pop tune spiked with her signature piano playing.

“The reason I called the album Visions is because a lot of the ideas came in the middle of the night or in that moment right before sleep, and ‘Running’ was one of them where you’re half asleep and kind of jolted awake,” Jones said in a statement that describes the album as “vibrant and joyous,” while tapping into “feeling free, wanting to dance, making it right, and acceptance of what life brings.”

In her statement, Jones added, “We did most of the songs in the same way where I was at the piano or on guitar and Leon was playing drums and we were just jamming on stuff. I like the rawness between me and Leon, the way it sounds kind of garage-y but also kind of soulful, because that’s where he’s coming from, but also not overly perfected.”

Visions is the follow-up to Pick Me Up Off the Floor, Jones’ last album of new songs, which was released early in the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

In addition to the album, Jones also announced the dates for her 9-show 2024 spring East Coast U.S. tour, which is slated to kick off with a May 6 show at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston and wind down on June 30 on the Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Justin Timberlake Posts Cryptic ‘EITIW’ Teaser: What Does It All Mean? https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/justin-timberlake-teaser-instagram-1235583948/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 23:52:19 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235583948

Justin Timberlake had fans buzzing on Wednesday (Jan. 17) when he posted what appears to be a taste of an upcoming musical era.

“EITIW,” he captioned a series of photos on Instagram from what looks like a music video set, with fans theorizing that the single will be called “Everything I Thought It Was.” Redditors even tracked down a trademark application filed by a mysterious LLC early last year for that phrase, as well as for “Everything I Thought It Was…A Sonic Film.”

A poster featured in the Instagram carousel says “MISSING” at the top and “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?” The tongue-in-cheek details include: “Age: Infinity; Height: Feels like 10′ tall; Weight: Up; Eyes: Precision; Hair: Depends.”

See the full post here.

On Jan. 8, fans noticed that all the posts on the “SexyBack” singer’s Instagram account were wiped clean. The only thing that remained was a profile photo of Timberlake, which featured his eyes sending a piercing look to a car’s rearview mirror.

Should Timberlake release a new album, it would mark his sixth album and first since 2018’s Man of the Woods. That project marked his fourth consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200, where it charted for a total of 19 weeks. Just days after the album’s Feb. 2 release, he performed at the Super Bowl LII halftime show in Minneapolis.

In September, Timberlake reunited with *NSYNC to release “Better Place” for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack, marking the group’s first musical release since 2002 (when the Neptunes remix of “Girlfriend,” featuring Nelly, arrived).

Madonna Teams With Jean Paul Gaultier for Exclusive Charity T-Shirt https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/madonna-jean-paul-gaultier-blond-ambition-t-shirt-1235583628/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 20:34:38 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235583628

It’s hard to pin down the most iconic Madonna look when you consider her four-decade career, but near (if not at) the top of that list has to be the cone-bra corset Jean Paul Gaultier created for her globe-trotting Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990.

Now, that look is coming to a t-shirt near you. Madonna’s Celebration Tour – which kicked off last year in London and continues to roll through the United States – includes a number of merch items that call back to her culture-shifting outfits and fashions over the years, but this new item is a little different. First off, it’s an exclusive collaboration between the Queen of Pop and the French fashion provocateur. Secondly, it’s for a good cause. According to a Wednesday (Jan. 17) post on Madonna’s Instagram, the item will benefit her Raising Malawi charity, a nonprofit she co-founded nearly two decades ago.

“Who doesn’t remember My iconic Gold corset designed by the one and only Jean Paul Gaultier for my Blonde Ambition tour in 1990?!” wrote Madge on IG. “Now you can have an exclusive T-shirt created by the man who designed it, and the woman who wore it —M.E. All proceeds from this Special collaboration will benefit @RaisingMalawi and help provide critical medical interventions to orphans and vulnerable children at the Mercy James Center for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care. Thanks to @RaisingMalawi and the support that the Mercy James Center has been able to provide for over 11,000 surgeries since it opened in 2017.”

The Mercy James Center shares its name with Madonna’s teenage daughter, Mercy James, whom she adopted in 2009. Mercy James is currently part of M’s Celebration Tour, demonstrating her effortless piano skills on every stop. Of Madonna’s six children, four of them are a regular part of the international trek.

Might As Well Face It, Jennifer Lopez Is Addicted to Love in Epic ‘This Is Me… Now: A Love Story’ Film Trailer https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/jennifer-lopez-trailer-this-is-me-now-a-love-story-movie-1235582542/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 15:07:39 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235582542

Jennifer Lopez suffers from some serious love overload in the first trailer for her upcoming Amazon original film This is Me… Now: A Love Story. The two-minute clip that dropped on Wednesday morning (Jan. 17) gives a peek at what looks like an epic tale of Lopez’s eternal search for love, complete with an all-star supporting cast that includes Fat Joe, Trevor Noah, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Sofia Vergara, Jenifer Lewis, Jay Shetty, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sadhguru, Derek Hough and more.

“I know what they say about me… about hopeless romantics,” Lopez says in voiceover amid a swell of dramatic strings and a shot of the singer/actress first sharing a passionate kiss on the ground and then on having her veil lifted on her wedding day. The she adds, “…that we’re weak. And I’m not weak.”

A quick-cut of Lopez walking solemnly in a steamy subway, staring blankly into a firepit and racing across a lake on a motorcycle before crashing out ends with the ominous warning: “Not all love stories have a happy ending.”

Longtime pal rapper Fat Joe then pops into frame as Lopez’s cozy sweater-wearing therapist before a roomful of her pals stage an intervention, telling Jen that they fear the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer might be a sex addict. The preview features footage from the just-released movie musical-style video for the earworm single “Can’t Get Enough” — the first taste of JLo’s upcoming This Is Me… Now album — as part of a film a release describes as a, “narrative-driven cinematic odyssey, steeped in mythological storytelling and personal healing.”

The “genre-bending” original project promises to showcase “her journey to love through her own eyes. With fantastical costumes, breathtaking choreography, and star-studded cameos, this panorama is an introspective retrospective of Jennifer’s resilient heart.” The trailer also finds Lopez in a support group describing her childhood sharing a room with her sister, lying awake at night wondering how anyone can get shut-eye “when your heart never goes to sleep.”

The narrative-driven short film from Amazon MGM Studios was directed by Dave Meyers (Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift) and written by Lopez and Matt Walton based on a story by the singer, Meyers and Chris Shafer; it is due out on Prime Video globally on the same day as the album, Feb. 16.

In keeping with Meyers’ legendarily over-the-top, effects-laden clips for artists including Harry Styles (“Adore You”), Grande (“No Tears Left to Cry”) and Swift (“Me!”), the This Is Me film preview features futuristic landscapes, elaborate, Gene Kelly-esque dance sequences and a parade of famous faces throughout.

The cast also includes husband Ben Affleck, as well as Trevor Jackson, Paul Raci, Bella Gagliano, Brandon Delsid, Ashley Versher, Malcolm Kelner, Alix Angelis, Danielle Larracuente and Matthew Law.

In an Instagram post featuring the trailer, Lopez wrote, “I have not been this nervous, excited, scared and thrilled to share something with you in years!! The story of the journey from This Is Me…Then to This Is Me…Now is the most personal thing I’ve ever done.”

Director Matthew Vaughn’s Daughter Is Convinced Taylor Swift Secretly Wrote the Spy-Novel-Turned-Movie ‘Argylle’ https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/director-matthew-vaughn-denies-taylor-swift-wrote-argylle-1235582533/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 13:34:11 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235582533

Taylor Swift‘s Easter eggs are legion. And Swifties are legendary for scouring the planet to uncover every hidden clue, regardless of how improbable their theories might be. And the latest one is a twisted yarn for the ages.

Related

Perhaps you’ve seen the trailer for Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn’s latest action flick, Argylle? The movie starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa and Samuel L. Jackson hits theaters on Feb. 2 and follows the adventures of a spy novelist who carts around an adorable Scottish fold cat in an argyle-print backpack with a peekaboo bubble that allows the kittie to observe the world on her owner’s real-life adventures.

The movie is based on a novel called Argylle written pseudonymously by an author known as Ellie (or in the movie, Elly) Conway that hit shelves on Jan. 9. So naturally Swifties think the singer — who over the past year has been setting records with her career-spanning Eras Tour, releasing re-recordings of her Speak Now and 1989 albums and criss-crossed the country to watch NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce crush the competition with the Kansas City Chiefs — wrote the book.

Some of the parallels do feel like Swift eggs, including the fact that TayTay loves wearing argyle sweaters, sometimes ghostwrites songs using pen names — even hawking a “Red (Taylor’s Version) Argyle Sweater” — and famously has two Scottish Folds, Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson. And, not for nothing, she carried Olivia Benson in a catpack similar to the one in the movie in her Miss Americana doc from 2020. Add in the fact that Swift directed the VMA-winning 14-minute All Too Well: The Short Film and is working on her feature directorial debut for Searchlight Films, for which she wrote the original script, and it all seems… plausible?

As Rolling Stone reported, because even the most dogged Swiftie could not find any internet history of author Conway anywhere, as well as all of the above, naturally they put two and six together and are convinced Swift is behind the book.

“I’m not a big internet guy, and it was actually my daughter who came up to me — this is the power of celebrity and the internet — and said, ‘You never told me Taylor wrote the book!’” Vaughn told the magazine. “And I’m looking at her going, ‘What are you talking about Taylor Swift wrote the book? She didn’t write the book!’ And I was laughing because I was like, ‘It’s not true! She didn’t write the book!’ But my daughter was convinced of it.”

Vaughn could not stress enough that this one project Swift was not involved with. He told RS, “There is a real book … and it’s a really good book. And there is an Elly Conway who wrote the book, but it’s not Taylor Swift. And I say that because I imagine Taylor Swift has a load of people trying to jump on her bandwagon left, right, and center, and I don’t want to be a part of that club. I did read the conspiracies and I was like, wow, they don’t leave a stone unturned! But it’s not Taylor Swift. She definitely didn’t write the book.”

It gets better, though. Swift did play a small part in the movie according to the director, who said his daughters with supermodel Claudia Schiffer convinced the couple to buy them a Scottish Fold for Christmas after watching Miss Americana. And that cat, of course, is the one featured in the film.

“Ironically, what she is responsible for is the Scottish Fold,” Vaughn said. “I got home one day, it was Christmas, and I was like, ‘What the f–k is that noise?’ And I’m running around the house and I hear a noise, and the kids had seen a Taylor Swift documentary [Miss Americana] and there was a Scottish Fold in that, and they’d persuaded my wife, Claudia [Schiffer], to get them the kitten for Christmas. It was bought without my permission and hidden from me.”

Miley Cyrus Unreleased ‘Doctor’ Track Previewed at Louis Vuitton Fashion Show https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/miley-cyrus-unreleased-doctor-track-louis-vuitton-fashion-show-1235582374/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 00:12:25 +0000 https://www.billboard.com/?p=1235582374

The Louis Vuitton Men’s Autumn/Winter 2024 collection made its runway show debut on Tuesday (Jan. 16) at Paris Fashion Week, and beyond showing off the new looks, the show also previewed some new music.

While the models walked down the runway, an unreleased track by Miley Cyrus played over the speakers, which fans quickly recognized as the rumored Bangerz leak, “Doctor.” “I could be your doctor / I could be your nurse / I think I see the problem / It’s only gon’ get worse,” Cyrus sings in the upbeat song in a clip circulating X (formerly known as Twitter) from the show.

Pharrell Williams, who succeeded the late Virgil Abloh as Men’s Creative Director at Louis Vuitton, contributed writing or production to four songs on Cyrus’ 2013 album Bangerz. Williams also previewed a new Mumford & Sons collaboration at the show, called “Good People.”

“Good people / been down / for so long / and now / it’s like / the sun is rising,” frontman Marcus Mumford sings in the hopeful, joyous chorus. Pharrell also provides backing vocals on the song alongside the Native Vocalists, according to NME.

If Cyrus were to release “Doctor,” it would follow her introspective single, “Used to Be Young,” released back in August. The 31-year-old star released her eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, in March. The LP was led by Cyrus’ empowering lead single and Billboard Hot 100 chart topper, “Flowers.”
